- Use the following steps to create a new layer in Photoshop.
- Choose the New Layer icon from the palette.
- Enter a name for your new layer.
- Click the OK button to create your new layer.

The keyboard shortcut to add a new layer in Photoshop is to use the Ctrl+N keyboard shortcut.
In Photoshop, you can create a new layer by clicking the New Layer button on the left side of the screen or by selecting the Create a New Layer icon from the Tools palette. You can duplicate a layer by clicking the Duplicate Layer button in the lower left corner of the screen.
